Ashley’s Tip of the Week!
Side Hill Lie:
1. Aim towards the high part of the hill as your ball will always favor the opposite direction.
2. Always take practice swings and pay attention to where the club sweeps the grass that will determine the appropriate ball position for the lie.
3. Ball above your feet: Club up and choke up.
4. Ball below your feet:  any move up and out of your posture will result in a thin, missed shot.  Bend your knees and stay there.

Hi Ladies! I just wanted to Thank all of you for such a fun season. It was been great getting to know everyone this year. I hope you all have a great winter and I look forward to seeing you again next year! J

Ashley’s Tip of the Week
One-Hand Putting
No matter how well you strike the ball from tee to green, your score won't reflect your shot making skills unless you can make putts.  When playing a new course, the greens are unfamiliar.  They may be faster, firmer, flatter, hillier, slower or have more grain.  To get the feel of these green spend a few minutes on the practice green with five golf balls.  Using your trail hand only, strike putts to different targets across the green.  This will give you a wonderful feel for your stroke, the swinging of the putter and the speed of the green.  You may be surprised how solidly you strike the putts and how close they end up to the target.  Now gently place your lead hand on the club and try and reproduce the same action.

Ashley’s Tip of the Week
Around the World Putting Drill
How many times have you missed a three foot putt?  Here is a drill to make three footers automatic.  Start with eight balls surrounding a hole from a distance of one club length.  Start with the straightest putt.  Knock it in, and move around the circle.  Try to make as many putts in a row as you can and keep track of your best.  When you miss, repeat the drill.  Set goals for your putting and try to get better each time you practice this drill.  With a little practice, your confidence on three foot putts will go through the roof and you will expect to make them all.

Ashley's Tip of the Week
Consistency in your ball striking from a fairway bunker starts with proper club selection and set-up.  It is important to set up with stability, because sand is an unstable environment.  Select the club that has the proper loft for the ball to clear the face of the bunker.  Your key set-up essentials include the following:  1) Ball position is one ball ahead of center, 2) take your stance with the insides of your feet lower than the outsides and your heels slightly lower than your toes,  3) hover the club slightly above the golf ball with your weight being slightly on your heels and your posture feeling tall.  From this efficient starting position, you are now ready to make your golf swing and enjoy the positive result.

Ashley's Tip of the Week:

Uneven Lies on the Course:
Elevation changes add character to golf holes but they can be challenging to hit from. First, your principle for set up is to have your shoulders match the angle of the slope.
Below is what to expect from your ball after hitting on an uphill or downhill slope.
On uphill lies:
  1.  The ball will fly higher and shorter as the uphill slope will launch the ball much higher.
  2. The ball may also hook, so take more club and play for the hook.
On downhill lies:
  1. The ball will fly lower and go longer.
  2. The down slope will take loft off the club.
  3. Depending on the severity of the slope you may not be able to hit a long iron or fairway metal wood.
  4. The ball may also fade, so take less club and play for the fade.

Take some time on the course to practice these shots with different clubs in advanced so you know how to prepare for them in competitive play.

Ashley's Tip of the Week

Confidence is Key! Have you ever done something amazing…on accident? Believing in yourself and trusting your swing is the most important part of the game. People who think they are going to play bad… do play bad. This is a self-fulfilled prophesy. Sometimes we can determine the outcome of our day before we even start playing golf. Be nice to yourself and believe… this will only make you better.
